Probably best known for its apple brandy, this is definitely a département for connoisseurs. Referred to also as the ‘Parisian Riviera’ certainly around Deauville, where the very grand Casino sits next to the harbour and racecourse.

Upper Normandy is dominated by the city of Rouen, which is one of the largest and certainly most prosperous cities of Medieval Europe. Visitors come from all over the world to see the Notre Dame cathedral as well as the famous Rouen castle.

Access via Dieppe or Le Havre is very easy and you’ll find property prices start rising as you get closer to Paris and the Île-de-France. Normandy possesses some of the most architecturally stunning houses in France. The timbered and thatched farmhouses are  ‘chocolate box pretty’ and it’s the same with some of the townhouses you find in the historic quarters of the towns and villages around the region. This is French architecture at its very best.
